Soft Falls the Rain

Soft Falls the Rain

Soft falls the rain
pitter-patter, pitter-patter
on the roof top.
Will it ever stop?
Soft blows the wind
all night through.

From afar, the melancholy
croak of frogs, in harmony,
drone on and on and on,
a lullaby to coax sleep.
It's music from nature at the
invitation of the night to
enhance the feel of the rain .
Nameless insects chip in
the refrains of night concert .

The distant hoots of
spectral owl arise
above the soft wind and rain ,
revive memories of yesterday.

The wind, the rain ,
the calls of the wilderness,
speaks of power and peace
of God's creation.

Put aside worldly thoughts
and listen well , listen
to the rhythmic throb
of a rainy night

an endless night
cold and bleak .
